My contractor says durarock should be cemented into the ground and 1 1 / 2 "roofing nails should be used) (instead of screws to kill durarock. What is the difference in the use of nails or screws? And important that durarock into the ground be cemented?

Your contractor is saying quite right. Coz nails effect better than screws. I don't want to go in details.
Never heard cementing durarock below (with the mortar or adhesive construction?), But I'm sure it would not hurt. In any case, we recommend the use of nails to the edge of the concrete secure. Nails, you do not remove the screws and rigidity is the key to success durarock. I would say stay on the bottom if you want, but nails are not acceptable. It seeks merely a way to save money and save time.
